School Safety

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Residents of Wilmington Area School District:

School shootings violence across the country have impacted all of us. We share a tremendous amount of sadness and disbelief that this happens at a school. The loss is overwhelming, and it is difficult to comprehend.

The National Association of School Psychologists provides information that you may find helpful if you are discussing these types of tragedies with your child/children. You can access the website at www.nasponline.org.

Wilmington Area School District has a school safety program designed to provide a secure environment for our children. We believe that we have a good program. As we continually review our plan, we ask ourselves, “Is there more that we can do?”

I am asking for your input with regard to school safety. Is there something that you have seen that you believe will help us strengthen school safety? Is there something that we are missing? Please contact me at phillian@wasd.school with your input. You may also contact the building principals as follows:

Elementary Schools: Ciavarinio@wasd.school

Middle School: Kwiat@wasd.school

High School: BHathaway@wasd.school

Thank you very much for your input and your commitment to school safety.

Mr. Brandon Phillian
Director of Educational Services
