Parent / Guardian Communications
COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE WILMINGTON AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT AND THE PARENTS/GUARDIANS OF STUDENTS IS PARAMOUNT TO PROVIDING THE BEST EDUCATION POSSIBLE AND TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF.
The District utilizes several methods of communication to parents/guardians as follows:
Wilmington Area School District utilizes Facebook and Twitter to share news, announcements, emergencies, and student achievements. We encourage all parents, guardians, friends, relatives, and members of the community to follow us on social media.

This provides School Administrators the ability to call, via phone, all or select parents/guardians.
This communication method is used primary for:
- Emergency Alerts
- School Closings & Delays
- Important News & Announcements
Phone numbers used are from our Student Information System – Alma. If you are not receiving these alerts, please speak to a school Secretary to update your contact information.
EMAIL MESSAGES (VIA ALMA SIS)
Regularly, staff and teachers may utilize a great feature of our new Student Information System – Alma. It allows school administrators to send mass emails to entire grade levels and also allows teachers to message parents/guardians 1-on-1 or to message entire classes about news, events, and announcements. To ensure you’re receiving these messages, call a school secretary and ask to verify contact information.
AUTOMATIC ATTENDANCE NOTIFICATIONS
(via Text Message Only, Grades K – 12)
This is an automated alert to parents/guardians should their student(s) be marked absent during 1st period. These alerts are sent daily shortly after 1st period ends only to parents/guardians of absent students who provided a mobile phone number in Alma SIS. If you wish to receive attendance alerts, please speak to a school Secretary to ensure we have the correct number for you.
Google Guardians is a feature of Google Classrooms which sends parents/guardians an email summary of their student’s Google Classroom activities. Summaries can be sent daily or weekly and will include things like class announcements, assignments, test scores, etc.
Parents/Guardians who want to receive these summaries should ask any of their student’s teachers to be added.
STUDENT WEB ACTIVITY REPORT
This service is only available for students in grades that use a school issued chromebook.
Parents/Guardians can sign up to receive reports of their student’s web activity on their school issued Chromebook. Guardians can see the websites their child has accessed (or attempted to access!) as well as their search terms/phrases. It will also show you average screen times.
