Early Dismissal on Monday, April 8
On Monday, April 8 the Wilmington Area School District will have an early dismissal due to the solar eclipse. Grades 5-12 will be dismissed at 11:15 AM. Grades K-4 will be dismissed at 12:15 PM. Breakfast and Lunch will be available for students in all grade levels.
The highly anticipated solar event will occur during our school dismissal time. The early dismissal of students will allow interested students to view the eclipse under parent/guardian supervision at home. Our area will experience a 99.1% coverage at approximately 3:15 pm followed by about 4 minutes of darkness.
During the eclipse, looking directly at the sun without specialized eye protection is unsafe. Thanks to a grant from Westminster College Science in Motion, each student will receive a pair of certified eclipse viewing glasses.
