Wilmington Area Food Service utilizes a Food Service Point-of-Sale System. This is a computerized debit system that will allow you to pay in advance for meals and/or a la carte items. This technology allows the Food Service Director to provide debit accounts for student meals. It will improve meal-tracking capabilities and identification of students who are eligible for free or reduced meal benefits. Information is stored electronically. The identification of students will be through the food service worker identifying the student, using the SchoolCafe QR code which can be downloaded on their cell phone or scanning the bar code on the back of their student Id badge. Cash or checks will not be allowed as a form of payment in the checkout line. Cash or check payments will need to be placed in the drop box located in the cafeteria and those funds will be deposited into the student’s account within 24 hours. More information on these new procedures are located here: https://5il.co/jxs0. (This ID number is the same number assigned to students throughout the school system.) Students can only access his/her account. It would be extremely helpful for students to pay in advance for as many meals as you are comfortable with. This money will be placed on the student’s account. If there is a balance (debit/credit) from the previous year, it will be transferred to the current year. Your child’s information is stored on the Point-of-Sale System and is only for use by this software in the food service department.
